AR500 Steel Targets - Switching from paper to AR500 steel targets is not only allot of fun, it also saves money in the long run. Hearing that "PING!" is instant recognition the target has been hit and for long distance shooters, you'll hear the bullet travel delay from shot to target. So what is AR500 steel? AR500 is a hardened steel commonly used for targets, armored applications, truck plows and mining. It's tempered and designed to be abrasion resistant, which makes it ideal for high wear applications.
3/8" plate steel - Rated up to medium center fire rifle calibers (.223/5.56, 30-30, 7.62x39mm, 30-06, etc.)
1/2" plate steel - Rated for larger calibers such as 300 Win Mag, etc. - (thinner steel offers a louder "ping")
